Thimbles Bed and Breakfast
Thimbles is a pretty country home set in a 6 acre garden. Although on a quiet rural road we are only 1 mile from the nearest town with all the useful amenities. We are 20 minutes from Glyndebourne and the South Downs National Park. Royal Tunbridge Wells, Lewes, Eastbourne and Brighton are all near by. East Sussex and Kent have a large number of wonderful historical sites to visit.
We have an orchard where our rare breed chickens live, a large kitchen garden where we grow almost every sort of fruit and vegetable, and we have a large lake with a bridge leading over to an island. The main garden has a circular rose garden. The garden contains 126 rose shrubs, consisting of 89 different varieties.
We also keep rare breed pigs in the adjoining field during the summer and autumn months.
Here at Thimbles we love "the good life". You would experience this if you stay and enjoy a full English breakfast which use our own hand made sausages (using the meat from our rare breed pigs), and our own home dry-cured and oak-smoked bacon. Truly delicious! We make our own bread, use eggs from our own hens, and we produce our own honey. In essence, if we can grow it and make it, we do! The seville marmalades and jams are all made by Vicki. Evening suppers can be arranged with advance booking. You can either eat at the family dining table or outside where you will be surrounded by a beautiful herbaceous border. Alternatively, you could enjoy a barbeque on the island and perhaps partake in some fishing or just relax on the hammock on the island.
