Ty Beic
Holiday Cottages in North Wales for mountain lovers
Ty Beic is run by cyclists for cyclists. 'Ty’ is Welsh for house and ‘Beic’ is Welsh for bike. We chose the name because we are obsessed by cycling in all of its forms. We chose this area because it offers some of the finest road cycling and mountain biking in the UK.
We have restored two stone barns to provide self catering holiday accommodation in North Wales. Situated in the hamlet of Sarnau, 4 miles from the market town of Bala in Snowdonia, our accommodation is the perfect base to explore all that North Wales has to offer.
The area is superb for cycling, with quiet country roads, beautiful scenery and epic climbs and exhilarating descents on the doorstep. Bwlch y groes, the highest road pass in Wales, Horseshoe Pass, the ‘Shelf’, Moel Arthur and Bwlch Penbarras are all within riding distance. Indeed ‘Bwlch’ can be seen from Ty Beic.
There’s also a tremendous variety of great mountain biking within easy reach. Ty Beic is about a 30 minute drive from Coed y Brenin, Llandegla, Antur Stiniog (Blaenau Ffestiniog), Revolution Bike Park (Llangynog), One Giant Leap (Llangollen) and the ClimachX, Marin and Penmachno MTB trails respectively. There is also plenty of mountain biking to be had on the doorstep without having to get in a car and we’d be happy to show you some of the routes and trails we have discovered.
We have cycled all over the UK and further afield. We understand the needs of cyclists and have converted the cottages with these needs in mind. The cottages have underfloor heating and wood burning stoves. Both living areas have a comfortable sofa, dining table and chairs, TV, DVD and music system. Kitchens have a hob, oven, microwave, toaster, fridge and all the cooking utensils you would expect to find at home. The bedrooms have a super king size bed or two singles, depending on your requirements. The en suite bathrooms have underfloor heating and powerful showers with plenty of hot water.
All guests have access to secure bicycle storage, bike wash facilities and a laundry which also has a shared freezer. We provide bedlinen, towels and wood for the stoves.
We're opening end of June and are taking bookings now.
